.Flooding continues along the Pecatonica River. The Winslow area
is observing significant flooding, with the crest near that location
on Thursday. Downstream at Freeport the river should start
rising again as the crest makes its way downstream. However, the
timing of the rise and how much higher the river will go remains
uncertain. The current forecast is for the river to crest around
15.5 feet, but it could be up to 0.3 ft higher or lower than that.

River forecasts include past precipitation and forecast rainfall for
the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an
alternate route. Turn around, don`t drown.

...Flood Warning now in effect until Thursday morning...

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Pecatonica River at Freeport.
* Until Thursday morning.
* At  2:30 PM Thursday the stage was 15.1 feet and steady.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring.
* Recent activity...after falling for several days, the recession
  has slowed, with the river staying nearly steady at Freeport on Thursday. Upstream, the river continues to rise.
* Forecast...Rise to 15.5 feet Saturday. Fall below flood stage
  Thursday morning.
* Impact...At  15.5 feet, Numerous streets are closed north and south
  of Illinois Highway 75 and water enters the first floor level of a
  few homes. Water also begins to enter Taylor Park. Businesses
  along Van Buren Street north of the Pecatonica River are directly
  affected by water.
