THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HONOLULU HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR THE ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY

* UNTIL 400 AM HST

* AT 1257 AM HST...RADAR AND RAIN GAUGES INDICATED HEAVY RAIN
  FALLING AT THE RATE OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR NEAR WAIHEE. THE
  AREA OF HEAVY RAIN WAS NEARLY STATIONARY WHICH COULD LEAD TO
  SIGNIFICANT RISES ON THE WAIHEE RIVER. OTHER HEAVY SHOWERS MAY
  AFFECT THE WINDWARD SECTIONS OF THE WEST MAUI MOUNTAINS AND THE
  NORTHEAST SLOPE OF HALEAKALA EARLY THIS MORNING.

* OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE ADVISORY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  KAANAPALI...PAUWELA...NAPILI...KAPALUA...KAHAKULOA...HOOKIPA BEACH
  PARK...HONOLUA...HONOKOWAI AND HONOKOHAU.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS...DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE
TO FLOODING.

RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE
TO PONDING...REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION.

DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT.
TURN AROUND...DON/T DROWN.
