Safety message. If you encounter deep water while driving, do not
attempt to drive through. Turn around, dont drown.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Neuse River At Smithfield.
* At  9:15 AM Saturday the stage was 15.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 15.6 feet by
  Thursday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Flooding begins along the
  Neuse riverwalk. Water nears the base of the holding tank at the
  water treatment plant.

  the Neuse River Near Goldsboro.
* At  9:15 AM Saturday the stage was 23.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 24.2 feet by
  tomorrow evening, and then begin falling.
* Impact...At 23.0 feet, Strobe lights at the end of the runway at
  Seymour Johnson Air Force base are flooded.

  the Tar River At Rocky Mount.
* At  9:30 AM Saturday the stage was 23.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  tomorrow late evening.
* Impact...At 23.0 feet, Several streets west of business US301 are
  flooded, including E Ridge Street and Melton Drive.

  the Tar River At Tarboro.
* At  9:15 AM Saturday the stage was 26.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 28.3 feet by
  Monday evening, and then begin falling.
* Impact...At 26.6 feet, This is the stage reached during hurricane
  Fran on September 15, 1996.
* Impact...At 24.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins in Tarboro. River
  Road is underwater and flooding begins on east Wilson and St David
  Streets.

* Impact...At 16.0 feet, Minor overflow occurs on both banks.

* At  8:45 AM Saturday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 10.8 feet by this
  afternoon. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Farmlands and timberlands
  adjacent to the river in Roanoke Rapids flood.

  bank.
