THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  WESTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS...

* UNTIL 900 AM CDT TUESDAY.

* RUN OFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL THAT OCCURRED ON FRIDAY WAS
  CONTINUING TO CAUSE FLOODING OF RIVERS...SMALL STREAMS AND
  CREEKS ACROSS WESTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY. THIS INCLUDES THE
  NEOSHO RIVER AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF CHERRY AND LIGHTNING
  CREEKS ADJACENT TO THE NEOSHO RIVER.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS RAIN IS CAUSING FLOODING. LOCATIONS IN THE
  WARNING INCLUDE...FAULKNER...HALLOWELL...MELROSE...
  SHERMAN...SHERWIN AND WEST MINERAL. CREEKS...STREAMS AND LOW
  WATER CROSSINGS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE
  DANGERS OF FLOODING.

THE NEOSHO RIVER IS FORECAST TO FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE EARLY TUESDAY
MORNING. THUS...THIS AREAL FLOOD WARNING WILL LIKELY BE ALLOWED TO
EXPIRE AT 9 AM ON TUESDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED.
STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW AND FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED.
HOWEVER...ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS
IMMEDIATELY.
