FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANCHORAGE AK
350 PM AKDT THU MAY 26 2016

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR THE COPPER RIVER BASIN...

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR SUSITNA VALLEY...

.DISCUSSION...

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE BUILDING INTO SOUTHCENTRAL WILL DOMINATE THE
WEATHER PATTERN HEADING THROUGH SATURDAY. WITH A NORTHERLY FLOW
ALOFT...THIS PATTERN WILL HELP DRIVE NORTHERLY OFFSHORE WINDS
WHICH WILL DRY THE LOW LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE OUT...AND SUPPORT
BREEZY NORTHERLY WINDS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE COPPER BASIN AND
NORTHERN SUSITNA VALLEY. THERE REMAINS UNCERTAINTY ON HOW STRONG
THOSE WINDS WILL BE...AND HOW WARM THE TEMPERATURES GET...SO THE
FIRE WEATHER WATCH WILL REMAIN A WATCH UNTIL MORE DATA CAN SHED
MORE CERTAINTY. WHAT IS CERTAIN IS MIN RH VALUES WILL DROP INTO
THE LOW 20S TO UPPER TEENS WITH TEMPS IN THE LOW TO MID
70S...WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ACROSS THOSE AREAS. ELSEWHERE...WEAK MODERATING SEA BREEZES AND
LARGELY WEAK WINDS WILL KEEP CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FROM
DEVELOPING. HOWEVER...DRY AND WARM WILL DOMINATE THE WHOLE REGION
HEADING INTO THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND.
