FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
258 PM EDT THU JUL 28 2016

.DISCUSSION...A HOT AND DRY PATTERN WILL PERSIST THROUGH FRIDAY
ACROSS CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA AND EAST-CENTRAL GEORGIA...UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE. BY SATURDAY...
SOME WEAKENING OF THE RIDGE MAY OCCUR ALLOWING A GRADUAL INCREASE
IN ATMOSPHERIC MOISTURE AND A SOMEWHAT BETTER CHANCE FOR
THUNDERSTORMS.

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED WELL TO THE SOUTH AND EAST OF
THE AREA ALONG WITH A THERMAL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE
PIEDMONT WILL KEEP A TIGHT ENOUGH PRESSURE GRADIENT THIS EVENING
THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. FAIR TO GOOD DISPERSION IS EXPECTED
WITH A VERY WEAK INVERSION DEVELOPING FOR THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.
LIMITED LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE AND SOME MIXING WILL PREVENT ANY FOG
FROM FORMING.

SURFACE WINDS FRIDAY WILL BE FROM THE SOUTHWEST AT 5 TO 10 MPH
AFTER DAYBREAK...THEN BECOME WEST-SOUTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 MPH
WITH GUSTS TO 20 MPH BY AFTERNOON. TRANSPORT WINDS WILL INCREASE
OUT OF THE WEST TO AROUND 20 MPH. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL DROP
TO BETWEEN 35 AND 40 PERCENT.
