Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
232 PM CDT Mon Mar 18 2024
.DISCUSSION...
Recent wetting rains will maintain low ERCs for most except along
the Rio Grande, which has not received as much rain in recent
events. Warmer temperatures and drier conditions from Thursday
into Sunday will begin to cure finer fuels. By the end of the week
into next Monday, values of RH near or below the critical 15%
level across the Southeast New Mexico Plains and most of West
Texas southwest of the Pecos River, and increasing westerly winds
in advance of another upper air disturbance, will all result in
elevated fire weather conditions developing, especially Sunday and
Monday.
