Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest and South-Central
Arizona and Southeast California
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
509 AM MST Thu Mar 30 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
MST THIS EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND
HIGH FIRE DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...
A dry low pressure system moves in this afternoon which will
bring strong winds combined with low relative humidity (10-15%).
This has prompted us to issue a red flag warning. Hazardous fire
weather conditons will begin this afternoon as winds increase along
the Colorado River Basin and Southeast Arizona with the elevated
fire weather threat diminishing this evening. Higher, wind prone
terrain in Maricopa county will also hit red flag criteria today.
Strong winds diminish late tonight although breezy conditions
will continue for Friday. A sharp cooling trend is expected on
Friday with highs 10-15 degrees cooler than Thursday.
