SPOT FORECAST FOR SRS CMPT 23...US FOREST SERVICE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
652 AM EST SUN FEB 1 2015

FORECAST IS BASED ON IGNITION TIME OF 0830 EST ON FEBRUARY 01.
IF CONDITIONS BECOME UNREPRESENTATIVE...CONTACT THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE.

.DISCUSSION...THE DAYTIME HOURS TODAY WILL BE DRY...BUT RAIN CHANCES
WILL RAPIDLY INCREASE LATER TONIGHT. BOTH SURFACE AND TRANSPORT
WINDS WILL START OFF THE DAY LIGHT AND OUT OF THE SOUTH...THEN WILL
INCREASE TO AROUND 10 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 15 MPH BY LATE MORNING
AND THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL REMAIN STRONG LATER THIS
EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. DO NOT ANTICIPATE MUCH IN THE WAY OF ANY
INVERSION FORMATION LATER TONIGHT DUE TO THE STRONG MIXING AND
WINDS. LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE DAY DUE TO
THE SOUTHERLY WIND FLOW. THIS WILL ALLOW THE MINIMUM RH VALUES
TO DROP ONLY INTO THE 40-50 PERCENT RANGE TODAY. MIXING HEIGHTS
WILL START OFF AROUND IGNITION TIME LESS THAN 1KFT...AND WILL
REMAIN BELOW 2KFT THROUGH NOON. THEY ARE THEN FORECAST TO RISE
TO NEAR 4000 FT BY THIS AFTERNOON. FOG IS NOT EXPECTED TO FORM
TONIGHT DUE TO THE WINDS AND FORECAST RAINFALL.
