...STRONG WINDS TODAY AND THURSDAY OVER MANY LOCATIONS...

.A strong jet stream aloft will bring a couple of short wave
troughs across New Mexico through Thursday. At the surface,
deepening low pressure through Thursday will combine with the
upper troughs to bring strong winds to large portions of the
state both days. The strongest winds will be on Thursday from the
central mountains to the Texas border.

THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

* LOCATION...Much of the northeast and east central areas.

* WINDS...West at 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph today. West
  30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph Thursday.

* TIMING...Winds will increase tonight and early Thursday
  morning, peaking from the late morning through the afternoon,
  then subsiding in the early evening.

* VISIBILITY...May be reduced to 3 miles in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution. This is
  especially the case on I 25 from las Vegas to Raton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

Remember, A High Wind Watch means conditions are favorable for a
potentially damaging high wind event in and close to the watch
area. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph
or more can lead to property damage. Monitor the latest forecasts
at weather.gov/abq, listen to NOAA weather radio or your favorite
media outlet.

* VISIBILITY...may be reduced to 1 mile in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Localized areas of blowing dust may suddenly
  reduce visibility`s. This is especially true on I 25 between
  Gallup and Grants.

* TIMING...Winds will quickly increase through mid morning, peak
  late morning through the afternoon, then diminish quickly in
  the early evening.

* VISIBILITY...May be reduced to 3 miles in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Take action to secure trash cans, lawn
  furniture, and other loose or lightweight outdoor objects.
  High winds can topple trees, blow weakened roofs off houses,
  and down power lines.
