Update to CA Fire Weather Web Page coming October 17, 2016

Effective October 17, 2016, the Current National Weather Service California Fire
Weather Web site,http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/firewx/cafw/ will be replaced with an
updated and enhanced version.

The new page will include enhancements such as:
Detailed hazards of Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches colored on the
map ECCDA, NWS Fire Zones and County boundaries on zoomable map Link
to new National Spot Forecast Page, which goes operational Oct. 17,
2016 Revised menu links

The detailed hazards of Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches on
the map is different than our current watch/warning map. The
detailed hazard map will highlight only the portion of the NWS Fire
Weather Zone, that is actually included in the Red Flag Warning or a
Fire Weather Watch. If the watch or warning is valid for the entire
fire weather zone, it will highlight the entire zone. The (Emergency
Command Center Dispatch Area) ECCDA, NWS Fire Weather Zones, and
County boundaries are now clickable layers that can be viewed
individually or at the same time on the front map. The forecasts for
these are now a one click option directly from the map, and defaults
to the last boundary chosen. For example: when you click on the map
it will bring up the forecast for ECCDAs if that`s the only boundary
highlighted. If you then chose to add the Fire Weather Zones on top
of the ECCDA boundaries, then click somewhere on the map, the Fire
weather zone forecast will pop up.

A preview of the new website is available at:
