...ENHANCED POTENTIAL FOR WILDFIRE GROWTH AND SPREAD TODAY...

AFTERNOON MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES ARE FORECAST TO BE
BETWEEN 15 AND 35 PERCENT TODAY ACROSS MOST OF THE REGION. 20 FOOT
WIND SPEEDS WILL INCREASE LATE THIS MORNING TO AROUND 15 TO 20
MPH. THIS WILL COUPLE WITH DRY FUELS TO PRODUCE AN INCREASED
THREAT FOR RAPID WILDFIRE GROWTH AND SPREAD IN THE AFTERNOON HOURS
TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF THE MIDDLE AND LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND
NEARBY RANCHLANDS.

AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE HIDALGO...BROOKS...KENEDY...AND INLAND
CAMERON AND WILLACY COUNTIES.

THOSE IN THE AREA SHOULD DISPOSE OF CIGARETTES IN VEHICLE
ASHTRAYS...PARK VEHICLES AND TRACTORS ON DIRT OR PAVED AREAS...AND
NOT IN HIGH GRASS OR NEAR UNCUT BRUSH AND USE WELDING OR GRIDING
EQUIPMENT ON PAVED AREAS.

CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE FRIDAY AS WIND SPEEDS DECREASE AND
RELATIVE HUMIDITY INCREASES.
