VALLEY...HIGHLANDS...WATERVILLE PLATEAU AND WESTERN PORTIONS OF
COLUMBIA BASIN...

...DRY COLD FRONT TO BRING GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES THIS
EVENING INTO SUNDAY...

.GUSTY WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH A DRY AIR MASS TO PRODUCE A
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WILDFIRE ENVIRONMENT TODAY. WINDS WILL BE
CHANNELED DOWN THE OKANOGAN VALLEY AND ACROSS THE WATERVILLE
PLATEAU INTO THE WESTERN COLUMBIA BASIN. A DRY COLD FRONT WILL
DROP SOUTH THIS EVENING INTO EARLY SUNDAY BRINGING AN INCREASE IN
WIND GUSTS...ESPECIALLY ALONG RIDGETOPS. A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL
ALSO ACCOMPANY THE FRONT RESULTING IN POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES.
CRITICAL HUMIDITIES WILL RETURN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING IN THE
OKANOGAN VALLEY...HIGHLANDS...AND WESTERN BASIN WITH WINDS
REMAINING GUSTY UNTIL LATE AFTERNOON.

PDT SUNDAY FOR WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR NORTHEASTERN MOUNTAINS...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPOKANE HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG
WARNING FOR WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM
THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 PM PDT SUNDAY.

* AFFECTED AREA: FIRE WEATHER ZONE 686 EAST WASHINGTON NORTHEAST
  (ZONE 686).

* TIMING: NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON BUT GENERALLY
  REMAIN BELOW CRITICAL THRESHOLDS. AFTERNOON INSTABILITY AND LOW
  HUMIDITIES WILL BE CRITICAL COULD ENHANCE FIRE GROWTH. THE MAIN
  THREAT FOR WINDS WILL COME WITH A DRY COLD FRONT PASSAGE WHICH
  ARRIVES 1800 - 2200 PDT THEN GUSTY WINDS CONTINUE INTO SUNDAY
  MORNING. VERY DRY AIR BEHIND THE FRONT WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL
  TO KEEP HUMIDITIES NEAR CRITICAL THRESHOLDS UNTIL SUNDAY
  MORNING. BETTER RECOVERIES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN PEND OREILLE
  COUNTY.

* WINDS: RIDGETOP WINDS: NORTH 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35
  MPH...BECOMING NORTHEAST AFTER 0100 PDT. VALLEY WINDS 8 TO 14
  MPH WITH SPORADIC GUSTS TO 30 MPH POSSIBLE.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITIES: 11 TO 18 PERCENT IN THE VALLEYS EARLY IN
  THE EVENING... RECOVERING 25-40 PERCENT SUNDAY MORNING. IN THE
  MOUNTAINS...18 TO 28 PERCENT IN THE EVENING RECOVERING 30 TO 40
  PERCENT EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS: RAPID FIRE SPREAD IS POSSIBLE WITH EXISTING FIRES OR
  NEW FIRE STARTS IN THE AREA.

  ZONE 687 EAST WASHINGTON OKANOGAN HIGHLANDS (ZONE 687).

* WINDS: NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITIES: 4 TO 12 PERCENT IN THE VALLEYS AND 12 TO
  20 PERCENT OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN.

* IMPACTS: RAPID FIRE SPREAD IS POSSIBLE WITH EXISTING FIRES OR
  NEW FIRE STARTS IN THE AREA.

* TIMING: WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL CREATE RED FLAG CONDITIONS
  TODAY AND THIS EVENING. A DRY COLD FRONT WILL ENHANCE WINDS THIS
  EVENING AND OVERNIGHT AND USHER VERY DRY MIDLEVEL AIR INTO THE
  REGION. WINDS WILL REMAIN GUSTY THROUGH MIDDAY SUNDAY AND
  CRITICAL HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO RETURN EARLY SUNDAY
  MORNING.
