PDT FRIDAY FOR THUNDERSTORMS AND STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS FOR THE
NORTHEASTERN SIERRA AND NORTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG
WARNING FOR THUNDERSTORMS AND STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS...WHICH IS IN
EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 AM PDT FRIDAY.

* AFFECTED AREA...FIRE ZONE 271 WESTERN LASSEN-EASTERN PLUMAS-
  EASTERN SIERRA-EASTERN NEVADA COUNTIES AND FIRE ZONE 278
  EASTERN LASSEN COUNTY.

* THUNDERSTORMS...SCATTERED ELEVATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP
  OVERNIGHT AND INTO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE A
  MIX OF WET AND DRY.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH POSSIBLE NEAR THUNDERSTORMS.

* IMPACTS...LIGHTNING MAY CREATE NEW FIRE STARTS AND COMBINE
  WITH STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS TO PRODUCE RAPID FIRE GROWTH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A RED FLAG WARNING FOR DRY LIGHTNING MEANS NUMEROUS NEW WILDFIRE
STARTS FROM LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE. REPORT NEW FIRES TO
911 IMMEDIATELY. CONTINUE TO CHECK WEATHER.GOV/RENO FOR UPDATES
AND PREPAREDNESS TIPS.
