...River Statement for the Cahaba River...

Water levels along the Cahaba River continue to fall after earlier
heavy rains resulted in water rises. 8PM observations Wednesday
evening show the river point is below minor flood stage, but still
in caution range. A gradual fall is forecast, with the river exiting
below caution by Saturday morning.

The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
 Latest stage:     31.4 feet at 7 PM Wednesday.
 Caution stage:    15.0 feet.
 Flood stage:      36.0 feet.
 Forecast:         Gradually falling.


It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.

Another statement will be issued Thursday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
