HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREAT FALLS MT
335 PM MST THU DEC 4 2014

...ISOLATED ICE JAMS COULD IMPACT RIVERS ACROSS SOUTHWEST MONTANA
   THE REST OF THIS WEEK...

AS A RESULT OF COLD TEMPERATURES OVER THE WEEKEND...ICE JAMS HAVE
FORMED ON SOME RIVERS...CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS. DAYTIME
TEMPERATURES GENERALLY ABOVE FREEZING ARE EXPECTED THE REST OF THIS
WEEK AND WITH THE WARMER TEMPERATURES...INCREASED WATER FLOW FROM
THE BREAK UP OF ICE COULD RESULT IN ICE JAMS AND MINOR FLOODING.

ICE JAMS ARE UNPREDICTABLE...AND THEY CAN DEVELOP AND BREAK UP
RAPIDLY. ANYONE WHO LIVES...WORKS OR RECREATES ALONG WATERWAYS
SHOULD STAY ALERT FOR RAPID FLUCTUATIONS IN WATER LEVELS OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF YOU SEE RAPID CHANGES IN WATER
LEVELS.

TO REPORT FLOODING...HAVE THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY RELAY
YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE.
