...AN AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT NORTHEASTERN ACADIA
AND ST. LANDRY PARISHES...

At 107 AM CST, strong thunderstorms were clustered over Lawtell, or
near Opelousas, moving northeast at 55 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and nickel size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Opelousas, Eunice, Church Point, Leonville, Melville, Palmetto,
Sunset, Port Barre, Washington, Grand Coteau, Mowata, Prairie Ronde,
Savoy, Lawtell, Swords, Branch, Richard and Lebeau.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
