A MONSOON TROUGH EXTENDS EAST-SOUTHEASTWARD FROM NORTHWEST OF KOROR
NEAR 14N130E THROUGH TYPHOON CHAN-HOM CENTERED NORTHWEST OF WENO
CHUUK AT 10N148E AND A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE CENTERED NEAR MAJURO AT
8N171E TO BEYOND 180 AT 8N. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON TYPHOON CHAN-

FOR THE REPUBLIC OF PALAU...WESTERN YAP...POHNPEI AND KOSRAE STATES

SCATTERED HEAVY SHOWERS...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND FRESH WEST TO
SOUTHWEST WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH A MONSOON SURGE ARE EXPECTED FOR THE
NEXT FEW DAYS. SEAS OF 9 TO 12 FEET WILL BE HAZARDOUS FOR SMALL
CRAFT OPERATION...INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL
WINDS AND SEAS HAVE SUBSIDED LATER NEXT WEEK.

FOR EASTERN YAP AND CHUUK STATES

NO DIRECT IMPACT IS EXPECTED FROM TYPHOON CHAN-HOM. HOWEVER
SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS HEAVY SHOWERS...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND
FRESH TO STRONG WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS CAUSED BY MONSOONAL WINDS
FEEDING TOWARD CHAN-HOM WILL CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
THESE WINDS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE ON POORLY CONSTRUCTED STRUCTURES. UP TO
3 INCHES OF RAIN ARE POSSIBLE NEAR FARAULEP AND WOLIAI IN EASTERN
YAP STATE BY SATURDAY NIGHT. SEAS OF 11 TO 13 FEET WILL BE DANGEROUS
FOR SMALL CRAFT OPERATION...INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL IS HIGHLY NOT
RECOMMENDED UNTIL WINDS AND SEAS HAVE SUBSIDED LATER NEXT WEEK.

FOR THE REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS

DEVELOPMENT ON THE TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IS ANTICIPATED TO BE SLOW.
NEVERTHELESS SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS HEAVY SHOWERS...ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS AND FRESH TO STRONG WINDS FOUND NEAR THE DISTURBANCE
WILL PERSIST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THESE WINDS CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE ON POORLY CONSTRUCTED STRUCTURES. UP TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN ARE
POSSIBLE BY SATURDAY NIGHT. SEAS OF 11 TO 13 FEET WILL BE DANGEROUS

COINCIDED WITH A RISING SPRING TIDE CYCLE...SWELL AND WIND WAVES
GENERATED BY STRONG WINDS WILL CAUSE COASTAL INUNDATION UP TO 1 FOOT
ALONG SOUTH AND WEST FACING SHORES ON MAJURO...JALUIT AND MILI
ATOLLS...ESPECIALLY DURING HIGH TIDES THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.

RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT MICRONESIA SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS
SITUATION CLOSELY...PAY ATTENTION TO LATER STATEMENTS ISSUED BY
THEIR LOCAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICES AND INSTRUCTIONS FROM LOCAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES.
