...Winter weather to return to the region...

.An upper level low pressure system will move from the central
high plains through northern Nebraska and toward the Great Lakes
Thursday through Friday night. There will be a return to winter
with snow and some blowing snow.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THURSDAY TO 9 PM CST
FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect from
6 PM Thursday to 9 PM CST Friday.

* IMPACT...Snow and blowing snow will cause travel impacts.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...Generally 5 to 7 inches.

* WINDS...Northwest winds at 20 to 30 MPH with gusts to around 40
  MPH.

* TIMING...Rain will change to snow Thursday night and snow will continue
  into Friday evening.

* TEMPERATURES...High temperatures will be in the upper 30s
  Thursday, cool into the mid 20s Thursday night and only reach
  around 30 degrees on Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow is expected
or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make
travel very hazardous or impossible.

Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect
from 6 PM Thursday to 9 PM CST Friday.

* IMPACT...Snow and blowing snow will cause travel impacts.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...Generally 2 to 5 inches.

* TIMING...Rain will change to snow Thursday night and continue
  into Friday evening.

* TEMPERATURES...High temperatures Thursday afternoon will be
  around 40 degrees, cooling to lows Thursday night in the mid 20s
  and only reaching the lower 30s Friday.

* WINDS...Northwest winds of 20 to 30 MPH with gusts to around 40
  MPH.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
periods of snow and blowing snow will cause primarily travel
difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited
visibilities, and use caution while driving.
