.DISCUSSION...

Very dry, warm, unstable, and windy today as an upper level trough
approaches from the southwest and a surface trough develops in the
lee of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Strong south southwest winds
are expected by late afternoon with gusts up to 40 mph and a Haines
Index of 6. In the wake of the upper trough lighter but still gusty
winds are expected Saturday, and to a lesser extent Sunday. Strong
winds and very low humidities are again expected to produce critical
fire weather conditions daily Monday through Wednesday.
