.DISCUSSION...

Breezy and gusty northwest winds are expected again today. Humidity
values are forecast to drop into the 25 to 45 percent range, with
the lowest readings across north central South Dakota.

Winds are expected to switch back to the south on Wednesday,
becoming gusty across central South Dakota by afternoon. Humidity is
forecast to drop to around 25 to 35 percent.

Rain chances will be on the increase towards the end of the week as
low pressure moves across the central and northern plains.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is
some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be
closely monitored.


The outlook for Wednesday afternoon...The grassland fire danger
index will reach the low to moderate category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Wednesday afternoon...The grassland fire danger
index will reach the low to moderate category.
