...A statement concerning The Cedar River and its tributaries from
Lansing downstream through Charles City...and the Middle Fork
Whitewater River near Whitewater Park...
Heavy rainfall this morning has resulted in significant rises on area
rivers, streams and creeks. No flooding is expected at this time,
but water levels will remain high through the day.
For Turtle Creek at Austin 3NW...The stage at noon was 8.25
feet. Flood stage is 10.5 feet. The river is forecast to rise to
each near 9 feet overnight.
For the Cedar River...
At Lansing...The stage at noon was 11.88 feet. Flood stage is
18 feet. The river is forecast to reach 14.5 feet on Wednesday.
At Charles City...The stage at noon was 5.01 feet. Flood stage is
12 feet. The river is forecast to rise to between 9.5 and 10 feet
by Thursday morning.
For the Middle Fork Whitewater River at Whitewater Park...The stage
at noon was 11.42 feet. Flood stage is 13.5 feet. The river should
crest between 11.5 and 12 feet this afternoon.
