...A statement concerning The Root River at Houston...Turkey River at
Spillville...Elkader...Upper Iowa River near Dorchester...

The recent rainfall along with snow melt has resulted in significant
rises on area rivers, streams and creeks. However, no flooding is
expected at this time.

Root River at Houston...The stage this morning was 12.39 feet. Flood
stage is 15.0 feet. The river is near crest now and will start
falling this afternoon.

Turkey River at Spillville...The stage this morning was  6.61 feet.
Flood stage is 9.0 feet. The river is forecast to continue to fall
over the next several days.

Turkey River at Elkader...The stage this morning was 11.48 feet.
Flood stage is 12.0 feet. The river is forecast to reach 11.70 feet
this evening, which is below flood stage.

Upper Iowa River near Dorchester along Highway 76...The stage this
morning was 13.18 feet. Flood stage is 14.0 feet. The river is
forecast to reach 13.80 feet Thursday morning, which is below flood
stage.
