...LA CROSSE WISCONSIN WAS ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH OF MAY...

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 62.1 DEGREES.  THIS WAS 2.4
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 72.0
DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 52.3 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 85 DEGREES ON THE 3RD AND 28TH AND THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 37 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED ON THE 1ST AND 13TH.

A TOTAL OF 6.41 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL.  THIS WAS 2.89 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24-HOUR PRECIPITATION TOTAL WAS 2.40
INCHES...WHICH FELL ON THE 29TH INTO THE 30TH. ZERO INCHES OF SNOW FELL
DURING THE MONTH OF MAY.

LOW PRESSURE ALONG THE WESTERN US PROVIDED A MILD SOUTHWEST FLOW
INTO MUCH OF THE MONTH. THIS ALLOWED FOR 19 DAYS TO BE EITHER NORMAL
OR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WITH NO TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING.

THE SOUTHWEST FLOW WAS A SET UP FOR ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION.
THERE WERE 16 OUT OF 31 DAYS HAVING PRECIPITATION WITH TWO DAYS
HAVING GREATER THAN ONE INCH OF RAINFALL.
