...LA CROSSE WISCONSIN WAS SLIGHTLY COLDER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL
FOR THE MONTH OF MAY...

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 59.1 DEGREES.  THIS WAS SIX
TENTHS OF A DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS
69.1 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 49.2 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 92 DEGREES ON THE 14TH AND THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 32 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED ON THE 2ND AND 3RD.

A TOTAL OF 8.49 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL.  THIS WAS 4.97 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24-HOUR PRECIPITATION TOTAL WAS 2.58
INCHES...WHICH FELL ON THE 29TH INTO THE 30TH. EIGHT TENTHS OF AN
INCH OF SNOW FELL DURING THE MONTH OF MAY. THE EIGHT TENTHS OF AN
INCH OF SNOW FELL ON THE 2ND.

THE TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO 38 DEGREES ON THE 3RD. THIS TIED THE
DAILY RECORD LOWEST HIGH TEMPERATURE SET IN 1954.

EIGHT TENTHS OF AN INCH OF SNOW FELL ON THE 2ND. THIS BREAKS THE
DAILY RECORD SNOWFALL OF 0.4 SET IN 1935.

...DISCUSSION...

TEMPERATURES IN THE MONTH OF MAY WERE SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. THE
COLDEST STRETCH OCCURRED FROM THE 1ST THROUGH THE 4TH...WHERE THE
AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE RANGED FROM SIX DEGREES TO TWENTY-ONE
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL. THERE WAS 2 DAYS WHERE THE TEMPERATURE
WAS AT OR BELOW THIRTY-TWO DEGREES. THERE WAS ONE DAY THE
TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO OR ABOVE NINETY DEGREES.

PRECIPITATION WAS MUCH ABOVE NORMAL IN THE MONTH. THE WETTEST PERIOD
OCCURRED FROM THE 19TH THROUGH THE 31ST...WHERE EVERY SINGLE DAY
THERE WAS MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION. TOTAL AMOUNT THROUGH THIS PERIOD
WAS 5.80 INCHES. THERE WERE 18 DAYS OF MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION IN
THE MONTH. THREE OF THOSE DAYS...ONE INCH OR MORE OF PRECIPITATION
FELL.
