...LONGEST JANUARY STRETCH OF ABOVE-FREEZING TEMPERATURES COMES TO
AN END...

AT 9 PM LAST NIGHT, THE TEMPERATURE FELL BELOW FREEZING AT
LA CROSSE REGIONAL AIRPORT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE JANUARY 16TH.
THIS 8-DAY STRETCH IS THE LONGEST EVER RECORDED IN JANUARY. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD WAS A 3-DAY STRETCH SET BACK IN 1880 (JAN 6-8 & JAN
16-18), 1894 (JAN 15-17), 1909 (JAN 21-23), 1944 (JAN 25-27), 2006
(JAN 2-4), AND 2007 (JAN 3-5).

NORMALLY IN JANUARY, THERE IS ONLY 1 DAY IN WHICH THE TEMPERATURES
DOES NOT FALL BELOW FREEZING. WE HAVE HAD 8 DAYS THIS JANUARY. THE
ONLY JANUARY WHICH HAD MORE OF THESE DAYS WAS 1880 (11 DAYS).
