National Weather Service Norman OK

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 343 AM CDT Wed Mar 27 2024

Areas of light rain and snow flurries are developing over western
Oklahoma this morning. This will shift eastward and transition to
just light rain this afternoon as temperatures slowly climb. No
impacts are expected.

Highs will generally be in the upper 40s (northwest Oklahoma) to
lower 60s (western north Texas) today, with most of Oklahoma under
mostly cloudy skies. A strong storm or two may develop in our
western north Texas counties--CAMs are divided on whether convective
development in central Texas extends that far north.

Western and northern Oklahoma should prepare for one last freeze as
tomorrow morning we`ll see lows drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s
one more time before transitioning to a warmer pattern.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Tuesday)
Issued at 343 AM CDT Wed Mar 27 2024

The ridge starts to build in Thursday and southerly flow returns,
bringing warmer air back into the area. Thursday and Friday we`ll
see increasing temperatures (60s Thursday / 70s Friday) and winds
(10-20 mph Thursday / 15-30 mph Friday). By the weekend, much of the
area will be in the 80s.

Elevated fire weather will start to nudge into parts of western
Oklahoma as temperatures climb late week into the weekend.

Finally, our next deep system will arrive early next week, bringing
back chances for showers and storms as well as a bit of a cooldown.
