TEMPERATURES AND BELOW-NORMAL PRECIPITATION...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 66.2 DEGREES WHICH WAS 5.3
DEGREES ABOVE THE 1981-2010 NORMAL OF 60.9 DEGREES. THIS RANKS AS
THE 2ND WARMEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD.  THE WARMEST SEPTEMBER OCCURRED
IN 1931 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 66.9 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE
HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 76.3 DEGREES WHICH WAS 4.9 DEGREES WARMER THAN
THE 1981-2010 AVERAGE OF 71.4 DEGREES.  THIS WAS THE 8TH WARMEST.
THE WARMEST AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE OCCURRED BACK IN 1948 WHEN THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 79.2 DEGREES.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE
WAS 56.1 DEGREES WHICH WAS 5.7 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE 1981-2010
AVERAGE OF 50.4 DEGREES. THIS WAS THE WARMEST.  THE PREVIOUS RECORD
LOW TEMPERATURE AVERAGE OCCURRED BACK IN 1931 WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 55.1 DEGREES.

THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 88 DEGREES...WHICH
OCCURRED ON THE 3RD. WHILE THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE IN SEPTEMBER WAS
38 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED ON THE 30TH.

PRECIPITATION...

ROCHESTER RECEIVED 2.88 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION DURING THE MONTH
WHICH WAS 0.57 INCHES BELOW THE 1981-2010 NORMAL OF 3.45 INCHES. THE
GREATEST 24-HOUR AMOUNT WAS 1.55 INCHES THAT OCCURRED ON THE 17TH.

A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WAS LOCATED ACROSS THE REGION FOR MUCH OF
THE MONTH. THIS RESULTED IN MAINLY SOUTHERLY WINDS THROUGHOUT MUCH
OF THE MONTH. THIS RESULTED IN SEVERAL WELL ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURE
STREAKS DURING THE MONTH.  TEMPERATURES AVERAGED 10 TO 14 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL FROM THE 1ST THROUGH 6TH...15TH AND 16TH...AND FROM THE
23RD THROUGH THE 28TH.
