THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FAIRBANKS HAS ISSUED A COASTAL
FLOOD WARNING, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM TUESDAY TO NOON AKST
WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATION...MAINLY EAST OF NOME AROUND GOLOVIN.

* COASTAL FLOODING...STORM SURGE 6 TO 8 FEET ABOVE THE NORMAL
  HIGH TIDE LINE.

* TIMING...WINDS WILL INCREASE TUESDAY MORNING AND STORM SURGE
  WITH STORM SURGE PUSHING ONSHORE IN THE AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...MAJOR EROSION IS EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM ALONG THE
  COAST. IN GOLOVIN WATERS WILL RISE AND THE OLD RUNWAY WILL
  BECOME INUNDATED. WATER IS EXPECTED TO RISE HIGH ENOUGH TO
  IMPACT ALL AREAS NORTHWEST OF THE POST OFFICE, INCLUDING THE
  SCHOOL. RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE BY MOVING VALUABLES WELL
  ABOVE THE NORMAL HIGH TIDE LINE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT RISING SEA WATER THAT CAUSES
FLOODING IS EXPECTED. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD
BE ALERT FOR RISING WATER AND TAKE ACTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND
PROPERTY.

  COAST. WATER LEVELS AROUND UNALAKLEET WILL BE HIGHER THAN THE
  LAST STORM AND LOW LYING AREAS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME INUNDATED.
  AREAS TO THE EAST OF THE RUNWAY AREA EXPECTED TO FLOOD, ALSO LOW
  AREAS AROUND THE ALASKA COMMERCIAL STORE MAY FLOOD. IN NORTON
  BAY THE ICE MAY BREAK UP AND BE PUSHED ASHORE. RESIDENTS SHOULD
  PREPARE BY MOVING VALUABLES WELL ABOVE THE NORMAL HIGH TIDE
  LINE.

* IMPACTS...MAJOR EROSION WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM. THE
  ROAD TO THE SHISHMAREF AIRPORT MAY BE IMPACTED AGAIN. RESIDENTS
  SHOULD PREPARE BY MOVING BOATS AND OTHER VALUABLES WILL ABOVE
  THE NORMAL HIGH TIDE LINE.

  AND PUSH IT ONSHORE. THE MOST VULNERABLE AREAS WILL BE ON THE
  NORTH END OF KOTZEBUE. RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE BY MOVING
  VALUABLES WELL ABOVE THE NORMAL HIGH TIDE LINE AND AWAY FROM
  WEST FACING LOCATIONS.

  MORNING WITH STORM SURGE PUSHING ONSHORE IN THE EVENING.

* IMPACTS...MAJOR EROSION IS POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM. WATER WILL
  BE BACKED UP IN THE YUKON RIVER AND STORM SURGE WILL PUSH WATER
  INTO LOW LYING AREAS. RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE NOW BY MOVING
  BOATS AND OTHER VALUABLES WILL ABOVE THE NORMAL HIGH TIDE LINE.
