SUMMER BEGAN WITH A PERIOD OF COOL AND WET WEATHER. RAIN WAS
OBSERVED ON 12 OUT OF 13 DAYS FROM JUNE 3 THRU JUNE 15, WITH MORE
THAN 1.5 INCHES FALLING ON THE 5TH. BY MID JUNE A WARMER, DRIER
WEATHER PATTERN HAD SETTLED IN WITH GRADUALLY WARMING TEMPERATURES
TYPICALLY FOLLOWED BY A COLD FRONT AND COOLER WEATHER. IN MID JULY A
PROLONGED PERIOD OF EASTERLY WINDS BROUGHT COOL, DAMP WEATHER. FOR 4
STRAIGHT DAYS FROM JULY 7 THRU 10 THE TEMPERATURE DID NOT RISE ABOVE
65 DEGREES. THIS COOL WEATHER WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AS WARM WEATHER
DOMINATED THE LAST HALF OF JULY AND INTO AUGUST. THE TEMPERATURE HIT
90 DEGREES ON 3 OUT OF 4 DAYS FROM AUGUST 11 THRU 14. THE 94 DEGREES
ON AUGUST 11 WAS THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE IN MORE THAN 5 YEARS.
GENERALLY WARM WEATHER CONTINUED THROUGH THE END OF AUGUST WITH
OCCASIONAL PERIODS OF WELCOME RAINS WHICH HELPED TO EASE THE
DEVELOPING DROUGHT.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE SUMMER WAS 68.3 DEGREES WHICH WAS
1.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE WARMEST SUMMER SINCE 2010. THE
WARMEST SUMMER ON RECORD WAS IN 1973 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
WAS 71.2 DEGREES. THE COOLEST WAS IN 1968 AT ONLY 63.7 DEGREES.

A TOTAL OF 8.01 INCHES OF RAIN FELL WHICH WAS 2.28 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL AND THE DRIEST SUMMER SINCE 2010. THE DRIEST SUMMER WAS 1949
WHEN ONLY 4.76 INCHES FELL. THE WETTEST WAS 2009 WITH 18.94 INCHES.
