CONCORD CLIMATE DATA FOR THE WINTER OF 2013/14

THIS IS A SEASONAL SUMMARY FOR THE METEOROLOGICAL WINTER (DECEMBER...JANUARY...
FEBRUARY) OF 2013-14 FOR CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE.

THE METEOROLOGICAL WINTER OF 2013-14 IN CONCORD WAS MUCH COLDER AND SNOWIER
THAN NORMAL.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE THREE MONTH PERIOD WAS 20.8 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 3.1 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THIS TIED 1980-81 AS THE 29TH COLDEST WINTER
IN THE PAST 146 YEARS. AS COLD AS THIS WINTER WAS IT FELL WELL SHORT OF THE
RECORD COLDEST WINTER BY OVER FIVE DEGREES. THE RECORD COLDEST WINTER IS
15.5 DEGREES SET IN 1917-18.

ALL THREE WINTER MONTHS WERE COLDER THAN NORMAL. THAT HASN`T HAPPENED SINCE
THE 2002-03 SEASON.

THERE WERE 22 DAYS WITH LOWS OF ZERO OR COLDER THIS WINTER. THAT WAS NINE
DAYS (9.2 DAYS) MORE THAN NORMAL. THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS MINUS 17
DEGREES ON JANUARY 4TH. EACH MONTH HAD A LOW OF MINUS 10 OR COLDER WITH BOTH
DECEMBER AND FEBRUARY RECORDING A MONTHLY LOW OF MINUS 13 (ON DECEMBER 17TH
AND FEBRUARY 12TH).

CONCORD MEASURED 69.6 INCHES OF SNOW THIS WINTER. THAT WAS 25.1 INCHES
MORE THAN THE THREE MONTH NORMAL SNOWFALL. THIS WAS THE 13TH SNOWIEST
WINTER IN THE PAST 146 WINTERS.

THE SNOWIEST WINTER WAS IN 2007-08. THAT WAS THE ONLY WINTER TO HAVE
OVER 100 INCHES OF SNOW WITH A THREE MONTH TOTAL OF 102.0 INCHES.

FEBRUARY WAS BY FAR THE SNOWIEST MONTH THIS WINTER WITH 35.3 INCHES
OF SNOW. THIS WAS 23.0 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE 5TH SNOWIEST
FEBRUARY ON RECORD. DECEMBER HAD ABOVE NORMAL SNOWFALL WITH 19.9
INCHES WHILE JANUARY REGISTERED BELOW NORMAL SNOWFALL WITH 14.4 INCHES.

CONCORD HAD FIVE SNOWSTORMS THIS WINTER. THE FIRST SNOWSTORM OCCURRED
ON DECEMBER 14TH AND 15TH WITH 10.3 INCHES OF SNOW. THE NEXT SNOWSTORM
CAME ON JANUARY 2ND AND 3RD WITH 8.3 INCHES OF SNOW. THERE WASN`T
ANOTHER BIG SNOWSTORM UNTIL FEBRUARY WHEN 7.8 INCHES FELL ON THE 5TH.
A SNOWSTORM DUMPED 11.0 INCHES OF SNOW ON CONCORD FROM FEBRUARY 13TH
THROUGH THE 15TH. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A 14.8 INCH SNOWSTORM ON
FEBRUARY 18TH AND 19TH.

CONCORD HAD 40 DAYS THIS WINTER WITH SNOWFALL OF A TRACE OR MORE. THIS
IS NEARLY DOUBLE THE NORMAL OF 21.3 DAYS.

CONCORD RECEIVED 10.71 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION (RAINFALL PLUS MELTED
SNOWFALL) THIS WINTER. THIS WAS 2.19 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE
35TH WETTEST WINTER IN 146 YEARS.

ALL THREE MONTHS HAD ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION LED BY FEBRUARY WITH
4.11 INCHES. DECEMBER HAD 3.39 INCHES AND JANUARY 3.21 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION.

CONCORD HAD 42 DAYS WITH MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION. THAT WAS NEARLY
11 DAYS (10.8 DAYS) ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE THREE MONTH PERIOD.
