THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TUCSON HAS ISSUED A

* SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
CENTRAL PIMA COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF SELLS...
SOUTHWESTERN PINAL COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA...

* UNTIL 700 PM MST

* AT 458 PM MST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THAT SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE OVER NORTH CENTRAL
PORTIONS OF PIMA COUNTY...INCLUDING MUCH OF THE TOHONO O`ODHAM
NATION. AREAS BETWEEN AJO AND HICKIWAN COULD RECEIVE AN INCH AND A
HALF OF RAIN IN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. IN ADDITION...THESE STORMS ALSO
EXTEND INTO PORTIONS OF PINAL COUNTY...WEST OF COCKLEBUR AND
JACKRABBIT. RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATE AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 2
INCHES HAVE OCCURRED WEST OF THESE TWO COMMUNITIES. EARLIER THIS
AFTERNOON VERY HEAVY RAIN OCCURRED OVER SOUTH CENTRAL PORTIONS OF
PIMA COUNTY...BETWEEN COWLIC AND ARIVACA. RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE
AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 3 INCHES AND EVEN MORE THAN 4 INCHES IN A
COUPLE OF LOCATIONS...ALTHOUGH THESE AMOUNTS WERE LIKELY OVER
ESTIMATED BY RADAR. ONE GAUGE LOCATED NEAR ARIVACA REPORTED NEARLY 2
INCHES WITH THESE STORMS. THAT SAID...EVEN THOUGH THE SHOWERS AND
STORMS HAVE MOVED TO THE NORTHWEST...RUNOFF FROM EARLIER STORMS WILL
CONTINUE TO FLOW FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. THEREFORE THIS SMALL
STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY WILL BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MST. MOTORISTS
TRAVELING ALONG ROADWAYS IN CENTRAL PIMA COUNTY SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS
SINCE WASHES WILL LIKELY BE SWOLLEN WITH RAPIDLY MOVING WATER FOR A
COUPLE OF HOURS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS IN
WASHES AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND
FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
