.DISCUSSION...

Gusty west-northwest winds in the wake of yesterday`s cold front
will continue to subside through the early evening hours, as a
ridge of surface high pressure builds eastward into the region.
Although postfrontal clouds will likely remain broken-overcast
across the northeastern portion of the region this evening, a
clearing trend should occur overnight, with lows falling into the
u20s/l30s. Pleasant weather conditions are expected Wednesday-
Thursday, featuring sunny/mild days and seasonably cold nights.
Although smoke dispersion will remain generally good tomorrow, a
surface ridge will settle across the TN Valley on Thursday
providing light/variable winds and poor dispersion.

A stronger southeasterly flow will develop late this week and
during the first half of the weekend, preceding the arrival of
another cold front on Sunday morning. This will allow for
increasing low-level moisture, and scattered-numerous showers both
Saturday/Sunday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy freezing fog is
possible on Wednesday night, mainly in local river valleys and
near large bodies of water.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: RH may briefly fall into the
25-30% range across portions of the region Thursday afternoon, but
other elements required for a red flag event will not be met.
