Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
309 AM CDT Wed Mar 29 2017

.DISCUSSION...
It will be a very warm day as a warm front lifts north through the area
this morning. In doing so, there is a slight chance of showers or
thunderstorms. Southerly flow will remain generally 10 mph or less at
the 20 foot level, while transport flow stays at 10-15 mph. Fair to
generally good smoke dispersion is anticipated today.

A potent upper level weather system will track slowly northeast through
the southern Plains and into the lower Missouri Valley tonight into
Thursday. In doing so, a squall line of thunderstorms will approach
far northwest Alabama near dawn on Thursday. The storms may continue
east on Thursday into the rest of north Alabama, although this is a bit
uncertain as the weather system slows down. South flow will become gusty
with 20 foot winds gusting around 20 mph, and transport winds reaching
25-30 mph. Smoke dispersion is expected to be good Thursday.

Additional thunderstorms are likely to develop to our west during the
afternoon and move in during the evening and overnight hours as a cold
front sweeps through. Some severe weather including large hail and
damaging winds will be possible with these storms.

Fog potential over the next few days: Any overnight and early morning
fog on Saturday and Sunday should remain patchy.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Red Flag conditions are not
anticipated during the next several days.
