Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
334 PM MDT FRI JUL 3 2015

...RED FLAG WARNING ON SATURDAY FOR PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL AND
NORTHWEST MONTANA...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: Hot and dry high pressure with exist over the north central
Idaho forests through Sunday. Very low daytime humidity and
terrain induced afternoon breezes, as well as poor overnight
humidity recovery, will be present during this time. Humidity will
rise and temperatures cool Sunday through Thursday, with
northwestly flow over the area. There is a slight chance of
showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, however
mainly over high terrain. It certainly appears that today and
Saturday will be among the warmest and driest days in the next
week.

Montana: Hot and dry conditions will continue across western Montana
forests through Saturday. Red Flag conditions, including gusty
west winds and low humidity, will be present on Saturday for
portions of northwest and west central Montana. A cold front will
pass through the area from north to south during Saturday
afternoon, with an abrupt wind shift to the east and increasing
humidity. There are rain showers and thunderstorms associated
with the front, further complicating fire mitigation. The best
wetting rain chances will exist behind the front over the Flathead
NF. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will shift to southwest
Montana on Sunday and Monday, however low chances of wetting rain.
Cooler temperatures and higher humidity will be present Sunday
through Thursday for west Montana forests. Another slight chance
for showers and thunderstorms over high terrain will exist
Wednesday and Thursday. Again, this period will not be necessarily
impressive for wetting rain either. It certainly appears that
today and Saturday will be among the warmest and driest days in
the next week.
