FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
206 PM PDT THU MAY 21 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A BROAD AND DIFFUSE UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA THROUGH AT LEAST EARLY NEXT WEEK.
THIS WILL MAINTAIN NEAR AVERAGE TEMPERATURES AND PLENTY OF MARINE
CLOUDS EACH DAY. IN ADDITION...THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF A
SHOWER MOST DAYS...PARTICULARLY OVER THE CASCADES.

.DISCUSSION...A BROAD UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL
PERSIST OVER THE REGION THROUGH AT LEAST EARLY NEXT WEEK. IN THE
SHORT TERM...MOIST UNSTABLE EASTERLY FLOW ALOFT WILL BRING
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TO THE AREA
TODAY...PARTICULARLY OVER THE CASCADES. THE CASCADES WILL BE THE
MOST LIKELY AREA TO RECEIVE WETTING RAINS. MODEST ONSHORE PRESSURE
GRADIENTS THROUGH THE WEEKEND WILL RESULT A DEEP MARINE LAYER EACH
DAY AND BREEZY CONDITIONS IN THE CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE AND
ALONG THE CASCADE RIDGETOPS. CONDITIONS MAY DRY OUT AND WARM ABOVE
SEASONAL AVERAGES TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

$$

***THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY WINDS ***
***WINDS ARE 20 FOOT 10 MINUTE AVERAGES***
***CWR-CHANCE OF WETTING RAIN 0.25 OR GREATER***
