HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

THE YUKON RIVER IS MOSTLY OPEN TO OPEN... BUT SIGNIFICANT ICE RUNS
ARE MOVING THROUGH PORTIONS OF THE RIVER.

THE KOYUKUK RIVER IS MOSTLY OPEN ALONG ALMOST ITS ENTIRE LENGTH.
SOME OPEN AREAS ARE NOW VISIBLE ON SATELLITE ALONG THE PORCUPINE
RIVER... ESPECIALLY NEAR WHERE IT EMPTIES INTO THE YUKON.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

THE UPPER LEVEL PATTERN TODAY HAS A LOW SOUTHWEST OF KODIAK ISLAND.
THE FRONTAL SYSTEM ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LOW IS BRINGING RAIN TO THE
NORTH GULF COAST AND NORTHERN SOUTHEAST TODAY.  AS THE LOW MOVES
EASTWARD AND WEAKENS INTO THE WEEKEND THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL MOVE
FROM NORTHERN SOUTHEAST TO SOUTHERN SOUTHEAST... AND EVENTUALLY INTO
CANADA.  UP TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED OVER SOUTHEAST THROUGH EARLY
SATURDAY.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE ENTIRE STATE.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE SOUTHWEST MAINLAND... INCLUDING
THE AKPEN AND KODIAK ISLAND... NORTHWARD TO THE SEWARD PENINSULA AND
POINT HOPE.  THERE ARE INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF BELOW NORMAL
PRECIPITATION OVER THE SOUTHEAST MAINLAND AND THE EASTERN
INTERIOR... AS WELL AS OVER SOUTHEAST ALASKA.
