THIS IS SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK. TODAY OUR AWARENESS WILL
CENTER ON WATCHES AND WARNINGS AND HOW TO BE PREPARED FOR
TORNADOES. TORNADOES ARE NATURES MOST VIOLENT STORM WITH WIND
SPEEDS REACHING OVER 200 MPH.

A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADO
DEVELOPMENT. THIS IS THE TIME TO PREPARE TO MOVE TO SHELTER,
ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE IN A MOBILE HOME OR OTHER STRUCTURE WITH A
UNSAFE FOUNDATION.

A TORNADO WARNING MEANS A TORNADO HAS BEEN SIGHTED OR INDICATED BY
RADAR. TAKE COVER NOW AS SEVERE WEATHER IS IMMINENT OR POSSIBLY
ALREADY HEADING YOUR WAY.

BE A FORCE OF NATURE BY BEING PREPARED AND KNOWING WHAT TO DO IN
ADVANCE OF A TORNADO...IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE. SOME TORNADO SAFETY
RULES ARE...IN SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, SHOPPING CENTERS, AND OTHER
PUBLIC PLACES, SEEK SHELTER IN DESIGNATED AREAS. AT HOME GO TO THE
BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR HALLWAY ON THE LOWEST LEVEL AND STAY AWAY
FROM WINDOWS.

PLAN AHEAD SO THAT YOU AREN`T CAUGHT IN A VEHICLE. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT
IN THE PATH AND AS A LAST RESORT...ABANDON YOUR CAR AND HIDE IN A
DITCH OR DEPRESSION AND COVER YOUR HEAD.
