...STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WATERS OF EAST MATAGORDA BAY...

THE AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE...
  COASTAL WATERS FROM FREEPORT TO MATAGORDA SHIP CHANNEL TX OUT 20
  NM...
  MATAGORDA BAY...

AT 304 PM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM...
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WINDS UP TO 33 KNOTS. THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS
LOCATED OVER NORTHEASTERN MATAGORDA BAY...MOVING SOUTHWEST AT 20
KNOTS. ADDITIONAL STORMS WERE DEVELOPING NORTH OF THE MATAGORDA
LOCKS AND MAY IMPACT AREAS TO THE EAST OF THE LOCKS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MARINERS CAN EXPECT GUSTY WINDS UP TO 33 KNOTS...LOCALLY HIGHER
WAVES...AND LIGHTNING STRIKES. BOATERS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOR
IMMEDIATELY UNTIL THIS STORM PASSES.

THIS STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL LIKELY PRODUCE WINDS UP TO 33 KNOTS...
AND COULD POSE A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR BOATERS. A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING
MAY EVENTUALLY BE REQUIRED WHEN THIS STORM REACHES THE NEARSHORE
WATERS. BOATERS SHOULD CONSIDER HEADING FOR SHORE BEFORE THE STORM
ARRIVES.

INTENSE LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. IF CAUGHT ON THE OPEN
WATER STAY BELOW DECK IF POSSIBLE...KEEP AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED METAL
OBJECTS.
