TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

...HIGH WINDS EXPAND OVER SACRAMENTO MOUNTAINS, CENTRAL
HIGHLANDS, AND THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE MONDAY AFTERNOON...

.A strengthening storm approaching from the northwest will bring
increasing winds over the region. This will result in strong west
to southwest winds, continuing over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
and developing over the Chuska Mountains tonight. Strong west to
southwest winds will expand over the south central mountains and
mix down to lower elevations of the Continental Divide and east-
central highland locations Monday.

MST MONDAY...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a High
Wind Warning, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 11 PM
MST Monday.

* LOCATION...Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

* WINDS...West to Southwest 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph,
  strengthening to 45 to 50 mph with gusts 60 to 65 mph tonight.

* TIMING...Winds will persist through the afternoon, strengthening
  atop the higher elevations through tonight becoming more
  widespread at lower elevations Monday.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced from blowing snow Monday.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution. This is
  especially true for sudden cross winds, including U.S. Highway
  64 between Eagle Nest and Angel Fire, and State Road 38 between
  Red River and Eagle Nest. High winds could down tree branches,
  as well as produce blowing and drifting snow to near white out
  conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

Remember, A High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Wind Warning, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 11 PM
MST Monday.

* LOCATION...The Chuska Mountains.

* WINDS...Southwest 40 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen this evening, persisting through
  Monday, diminishing Monday night.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced from blowing snow Monday evening.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Strong crosswinds will create hazardous driving
  conditions for high profile vehicles including vans, campers,
  trailers and SUVs. High winds could down tree branches,
  as well as produce blowing and drifting snow to near white out
  conditions.

Wind Watch, which is in effect from Monday morning through
Tuesday morning.

* LOCATION...Raton Ridge and Johnson Mesa.

* WINDS...West to Southwest 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph,
  strengthening to 40 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph Monday
  afternoon.

* TIMING...Winds will continue through the late afternoon before
  diminishing early this evening. Winds will strengthen again
  late Monday morning, diminishing overnight into Tuesday morning.


* VISIBILITY...No restrictions anticipated.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution. This is
  especially true for sudden cross winds, along I-25 at Raton Pass
  and NM 72 between Raton and Folsom. High winds could down tree
  branches.

* TIMING...Winds will continue through the afternoon before
  diminishing early this evening. Winds will strengthen again late
  Monday morning peaking Monday afternoon before diminishing
  Monday evening.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced to 5 miles in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution,
  especially with cross winds. This includes I-25 from Las Vegas
  to Raton, as well as I-40 and U.S. 285 at Clines Corners.

  Slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Sandia/Manzano
  Mountains, South Central Highlands, South Central Mountains, and
  Southwest Chaves County.

* WINDS...40 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen late Monday morning, peaking mid
  to late afternoon Monday before diminishing Monday evening and
  overnight into Tuesday morning.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced from blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution,
  especially with cross winds. This includes I-40 from the AZ
  border through the Continental Divide and through the
  Sandia/Manzano Mountains, as well as U.S. 380 from Capitan and
  through the Tularosa Valley.
