...A WIDESPREAD HARD FREEZE EXPECTED TONIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AND
LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND IN CHAVES COUNTY...

A Pacific cold front moved across central New Mexico Friday and
Friday night, followed by a backdoor cold overnight into this
morning across the east. Behind these cold fronts, a much cooler
air mass has settled over the region. Winds are easing on the
eastern plains this afternoon, with light winds and clear skies
expected tonight. This will cause temperatures to fall sharply
tonight into Sunday morning. A hard freeze is expected in the
Middle and Lower Rio Grande Valley and in Chaves County.

This freeze is occurring very late in the season. The latest first
freeze date at the Albuquerque Sunport was November 22, 2007 and
second latest was on November 20, 2001. A freeze early Sunday,
November 19, will be the third latest freeze date at the Sunport.

Remember to move sensitive plants indoors and keep your pets
inside tonight. Monitor the latest forecast and observations at
weather.gov/abq, through your preferred local media, or follow NWS
Albuquerque on Facebook and Twitter.
