URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Periods of snow will continue into tonight across the Northern
Blue Mountains...

.A low pressure system is bringing periods of snow to the Northern
Blue Mountains this afternoon. A strong westerly upslope flow will
keep snow and snow showers going into the overnight hours. The
snow could be heavy at times, especially this afternoon and
evening. Snow levels will gradually fall this evening and
overnight as colder air aloft moves into the area. The snow
showers should taper off and end prior to daybreak Wednesday.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM PST WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for heavy snow...which is in effect until 4 AM
PST Wednesday.

* LOCATIONS...Meacham, Tollgate and Ski Bluewood.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 5 inches between 3500 to 4500 feet. 4
  to 8 inches above 4500 feet.

* TIMING...Periods of snow showers will continue this
  afternoon...evening and into tonight. Some of the snow could be
  heavy at times. The snow showers should end prior to daybreak
  Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Roads will become snow covered and slick. Heavier snow
  showers may reduce visibility under one half mile at times.
  Interstate 84 near Meacham and Cabbage Hill will be impacted,
  along with highway 204 near Tollgate.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* TEMPERATURES...In the upper 20s to mid 30s.

* SNOW LEVEL...3500 feet lowering to below 3000 feet overnight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
driving.
