...National Weather Service Survey Team confirms straight line winds
from a microburst near Jewell, NY in Oneida County from yesterday`s

A survey team from the National Weather Service in Binghamton has
concluded that the storm that hit Jewell, NY in Oneida County early
in the afternoon of Monday July 18th was from straight line winds
from a microburst. Preliminary estimated maximum wind speeds were
between 70 and 80 mph. Most of the damage was to trees and
concentrated near the intersection of Hall Road and Stone Barn Road.
More details on this storm will be issued this evening.
