The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northwestern Lumpkin County in north central Georgia...
  Eastern Gilmer County in north central Georgia...
  Southwestern Union County in north central Georgia...
  Southeastern Fannin County in north central Georgia...

* Until 1245 AM EDT.

* At 1157 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Cherry Log,
  or near Ellijay, moving east at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  East Ellijay, Suches, Margret, Camp Merrill, Woods Hole Shelter,
  Dial, Springer Mountain Shelter, Cartecay, Pisgah, Vogel State
  Park, Black Gap Shelter, Cherry Log, Stover Creek Shelter, Hawk
  Mountain Shelter, Roy, Blood Mountain Shelter, Gaddistown, and
  Gooch Mountain Shelter.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

If you see wind damage...hail or flooding...wait until the storm has
passed...and then call the National Weather Service toll free

Georgia.
