Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
710 PM MDT Tue May 7 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 10 PM today
for portions of south central and southeast Colorado...

...A Red Flag Warning is now in effect for the San Luis Valley,
Otero and eastern Las Animas county from 11 AM to 7 PM Wednesday...

.Discussion...

High fire danger continues into this evening, with strong winds and
dry air in place over the forecast area. A Red Flag Warning remains
in place over the San Luis Valley, Fremont County, the eastern
mountains, and the southeast plains this evening.

On the opposite side, winter weather continues around Lake County
through early this evening with 1-3 inches of additional
snow accumulation along with 25 to 40 mph wind gusts.

Critically dry conditions persist for the San Luis Valley
and will return for southern portions of the southeast plains
on Wednesday where another round of Red Flag Warnings will go in
effect through early evening.

Chances of precipitation will increase Thursday through Saturday
over the district, with a mitigation to the fire weather threat as
cooler temperatures and higher RH values return.

Afternoon smoke dispersion rates will be excellent both today and
tomorrow.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
