...Periods of moderate to heavy rain into tonight...

.A weak stationary front will remain in place across the region
this afternoon. Low pressure tracking along the boundary will
bring another round of widespread rainfall to the region into
tonight. This may combine with saturated soil conditions to
produce flooding across the watch area.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has expanded the

* Flood Watch to include the mountains and foothills of North
  Carolina, the Grayson Highlands and Mountain Empire of Virginia,
  and portions of the New River Valley.

* Until 2 AM EDT Wednesday

* Another period of moderate rain into early tonight may lead to
  flooding.

* Additional rainfall of one half to locally one inch could occur
  through tonight. This could lead to flooding of creeks and
  streams today and along larger rivers by tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including the
  following areas, in North Carolina, Caswell, Rockingham,
  Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In Virginia, Carroll,
  Halifax, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania.

* Until 2 AM EDT Wednesday

* Another period of moderate to heavy rain into tonight may lead
  to flooding.

* Additional rainfall around 1 inch with locally higher amounts
  could occur through tonight. This could lead to flooding of
  creeks and streams today and along larger rivers by tonight.
