FLOOD STATEMENT

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Do not drive vehicles through flooded waterways.  Use caution when
walking near flooded riverbanks.  Do not try to wade or swim in
flooded rivers and bayous.

The flood warning continues for
  the Red River At Shreveport, Louisiana.
* from late Sunday night until further notice...or until the warning
  is cancelled.
* At 1000 AM Thursday the stage was 28.1 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Monday morning and
  continue to rise to near 33.0 feet by June 5.
* Impact...at 33.0 feet...Martin Luther King Drive at McCain Creek in
  north Shreveport flooded and closed.  Also expect major backwater
  flooding on Cross Bayou and Twelve Mile Bayous as well as McCain
  Creek.

The flood warning continues for
  the Red River At Coushatta, Louisiana.
* until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:00 AM Thursday The stage was 31.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 31 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.5 feet by
  June 6.  Additional rises remain possible thereafter.
* Impact...at 35.0 feet...Moderate flooding occurs.  Severe backwater
  flooding occurs from the confluence of the Red River with Loggy
  Bayou through the lower Flat River and Red Chute Bayou in southern
  Bossier Parish.   Cattle and equipment should be moved to higher
  ground away from levees.
