FLOOD STATEMENT

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Do not drive vehicles through flooded waterways.  Use caution when
walking near flooded riverbanks.  Do not try to wade or swim in
flooded rivers and bayous.

The flood warning continues for
  the Red River At Shreveport, Louisiana.
* until Sunday morning...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At noon Wednesday The stage was 32.3 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Saturday early afternoon.  Also the river crested at 32.4 feet during
  earlier this Wednesday morning.
* Impact...at 32.5 feet...The area south of Interstate 20 and Traffic
  street exit and also near Hamilton Road area in Bossier City
  floods. Also the south part of Martin Luther King drive in north
  Shreveport is flooded and closed.

The flood warning continues for
  the Red River At Coushatta, Louisiana.
* until Monday evening...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At noon Wednesday The stage was 32.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 31 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.0 feet by
  Friday morning.  The river will fall below flood stage Monday
  morning.
* Impact...at 35 feet...Moderate flooding occurs.  Severe backwater
  flooding occurs from the confluence of the Red River with Loggy
  Bayou through the lower Flat River and Red Chute Bayou in southern
  Bossier Parish.   Cattle and equipment should be moved to higher
  ground away from levees.

The flood warning continues for
  the Red River At Grand Ecore, Louisiana.
* until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At noon Wednesday The stage was 34.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 33 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 39.0 feet by
  Saturday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...at 40 feet...Major backwater flooding problems will
  affect Bayou Pierre, Black and Saline Bayous and the Cane River
  Lake tributaries with thousands of acres flooded. Severe backwater
  flooding will spread upstream along Bayou Pierre through Powhattan
  and Evelyn, Louisiana.  Also expect backwater flooding of Black and
  Clear lakes along with the closure of Louisiana highway 1226.
