Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
250 PM EDT Mon Oct 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...A cold front currently extending from extreme
western NC down through south-central GA will move slowly east
across the forecast area late this afternoon through mid-evening.
Ahead of it, winds from the south-southeast could become quite
gusty in scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the potential
for isolated tornadoes.

Winds will then shift out of the west-southwest behind the front
and diminish to around 5 mph into the overnight hours.
Fair dispersion is expected through much of the evening and
nighttime. Any fog late tonight is expected to be very patchy
with drier air beginning to filter in and some weak low-level
mixing occurring.

Surface winds Tuesday will be from the west-southwest around
5 mph after daybreak, then increase to 8 to 12 mph by late
morning. Transport winds will also be west-southwest increasing
to 14 to 18 mph for the afternoon. Relative humidities will
drop to near 40 percent.
