FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
310 PM EDT SAT APR 30 2016

.DISCUSSION...A NEARLY STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY WAS DRAPED FROM
THE UPSTATE NORTHEAST ACROSS THE EXTREME NORTHERN MIDLANDS OF SC AND
OFFSHORE THIS AFTERNOON. SOUTH OF THE FRONT...INCREASING LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE FROM A SOUTHEASTERLY AIRFLOW COMBINED WITH A GENERALLY
UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE WILL LEAD TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE
THUNDERSTORMS. BEST TIMING WILL BE LATER THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT
WHEN UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY IS PROJECTED TO CROSS THE FORECAST AREA.

WITH HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED WELL TO THE NORTHEAST...THE PRESSURE
GRADIENT WILL BE TIGHT ENOUGH TO PROMOTE FAIR DISPERSION THIS EVENING
THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. SOME LOW-LEVEL MIXING COMBINED WITH
CLOUDINESS WILL INHIBIT ANYTHING BUT PATCHY LIGHT FOG FROM FORMING.

THIS GENERALLY UNSETTLED PATTERN IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH THE
DAYTIME MONDAY. SURFACE WINDS SUNDAY WILL BE FROM THE SOUTHEAST AT
5 TO 10 MPH AFTER DAYBREAK...THEN BECOME SOUTH NEAR 10 MPH
BY AFTERNOON. TRANSPORT WINDS WILL INCREASE OUT OF THE SOUTH
TO 10 TO 15 MPH. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL DROP INTO THE 55 TO
60 PERCENT RANGE SUNDAY AFTERNOON...SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN
THEY HAVE BEEN THESE PAST FEW DAYS.
