Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
312 AM CDT Tue May 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Scattered showers will continue through the morning hours with
possibly a brief break late this morning and early afternoon. The
chance of an isolated thunderstorm also returns this afternoon as
the atmosphere becomes more unstable. Another cold front will move
through tonight with rain chances increasing after 7PM with
numerous rain showers and scattered thunderstorms expected after
midnight and lasting through 5-7AM. Calm and variable winds this
morning will eventually settle from the west around 5kts after
1-2PM. Winds may turn slightly more northwesterly after the front
Wednesday morning. Behind the front, scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms continue on Wednesday and through Wednesday
night. Coverage then starts to taper off with showers and isolated
thunderstorms only forecast for NE AL and Southern Middle TN
Thursday with precip tapering off by Thursday night. Overall basin
averaged rainfall is around an inch but higher amounts will be
likely.

Afternoon heating each afternoon will still be able to push mixing
heights above 5000ft today and Wednesday. The continued rainfall
will keep minimum RH values above 50 percent. If there are any
breaks in the rainfall tonight, patchy fog is possible. Red Flag
Conditions are not expected for the next few days.
