Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
500 AM CST Thu Feb 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...
The patchy fog that is present across the area this morning is
expected to dissipate shortly after sunrise. Winds will increase
a little after sunrise with the onset of mixing, but should be
relatively steady from the SE today around 5 to 10 mph.

Winds are expected to strengthen on Friday from the southwest in
advance of a cold front moving toward the region. Winds are
expected to become gusty on Friday morning with the onset of
deep mixing...as early as around 8 to 9 am. Temperatures will be
unusually warm for this time of year on Friday, with afternoon
highs in the mid 70s to perhaps as high as 80 degrees. Showers
and storms are expected to develop in the region late Friday
afternoon and mainly on Friday evening.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy fog is present this
morning across northern Alabama, but is most widespread over
northwestern parts of the area, mainly in Lauderdale and Colbert
Counties. The fog is expected to dissipate by 8 to 9 AM. Fog is
not expected for the next few days afterward.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: A much drier airmass will move
into the region this weekend, with relative humidity values
expected to fall to around 30 percent on Saturday afternoon and
below 30 percent at many locations on Sunday afternoon. However,
wind speeds are not expected to reach criteria sufficient for a
Red Flag Warning.
