FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
401 AM CST MON DEC 5 2016

.DISCUSSION...

DRIZZLE AND LIGHT RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTHERN ALABAMA
TODAY WHICH, WITH THE LOW MIXING HEIGHTS, WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPRESS
FIRE ACTIVITY WITH THE ALREADY SATURATED 10 HOUR FUELS.

THEN, AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL PUSH A WARM FRONT NORTH
TOWARDS NORTHERN ALABAMA LATER THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT WITH
THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. GUSTY
WINDS OF 40-50 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY OF THE STRONGER STORMS
THAT OCCUR. STORM ACTIVITY SHOULD END BY TUESDAY MORNING AS THE LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM MOVES OFF TO THE
NORTHEAST. THE AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION THAT IS EXPECTED BETWEEN TODAY
INTO TUESDAY IS AROUND 1-2 INCHES. HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE
ESPECIALLY OVER NORTHWEST ALABAMA.

A BRIEF BREAK IN THE RAIN IS EXPECTED ON TUESDAY NIGHT WHICH COULD
LEAD TO FOG FORMATION EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. A COLD FRONT IS
EXPECTED TO BRING ANOTHER CHANCE FOR RAIN ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
MUCH COLDER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED BEHIND THE FRONT THURSDAY INTO
FRIDAY WITH DRY AND SUNNY CONDITIONS. HOWEVER, DAYTIME HIGH
TEMPERATURES WILL BE WELL BELOW NORMAL IN THE LOW 40S ON THURSDAY AND
MID TO UPPER 30S ON FRIDAY. NORTHWEST WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT WILL BE
BETWEEN 5-10MPH ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

THE NEXT CHANCE FOR PRECIPITATION WILL BE ON SUNDAY AS ANOTHER
FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHES.
