Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California...Updated
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
930 PM PDT Sun May 28 2017

...Slight chance of Elevated Thunderstorms with Isolated Dry Lightning
and Gusty Downdraft Winds Possible Monday Afternoon across the Mountains
of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties...

.DISCUSSION...
Low clouds associated with the marine layer should become
more widespread across coast and coastal valley locations overnight
as the marine inversion strengthens. The marine layer depth is
expected to be between 1000 to 1500 feet tonight into early Monday.

Monday`s high temperatures will be slightly cooler across much
of the region...but afternoon minimum humidities will remain stable in
the lower teens to lower 20 percent range for interior areas. Gusty
onshore winds will affect the L.A. mountains through Soledad Canyon
into the Antelope Valley...with gusty northwest winds over the
Central Coast in the afternoon to evening hours. Some mid level
moisture and increasing instability will bring a slight chance of
elevated thunderstorms across the mountains of Santa Barbara and
Ventura counties on Monday afternoon. If any storms develop, the
main threats will be isolated dry lightning strikes and gusty
downdraft winds.

A weak trough of low pressure will build into the region Monday night
into Tuesday, bringing increasing onshore winds to the area along
with cooler temperatures.

The models agree fairly well on deepening the upper low over the area
on Wednesday. This will likely result in a deeper marine layer, much
cooler temperatures, and increasing clouds. There will be a slight
chance of showers and thunderstorms over the mountains Wednesday
afternoon and evening.
