Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
303 AM CST Mon Feb 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Since portions of the SE NM Plains and northwest Permian Basin will
have minimum RH/s of 10-15 percent this afternoon, near critical
fire weather conditions are expected there as the northwest to north
winds rise to 15-25 mph. Will issue a Fire Danger Statement for
these areas as the strongest winds and lowest RH/s will not coincide
during the afternoon. Recovery will be poor over most of the area
tonight. An upper ridge will expand over the region Tuesday, warm
temperatures well above normal, but since RH/s will struggle to drop
below 15 percent, and 20 foot winds will generally be less than 20
mph, critical fire weather conditions are not expected. Near
critical fire weather conditions are expected Wednesday afternoon
over most of the area as temperatures stay well above normal and
winds increase, but there could be widespread critical conditions
Thursday.
