Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
618 PM CDT Wed Apr 26 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20 FT
WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, AND HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE DANGER FOR THE
GUADALUPE, DAVIS, AND APACHE MOUNTAINS, SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
PLAINS, VAN HORN AND HIGHWAY 54 CORRIDOR, REEVES COUNTY AND UPPER
TRANS PECOS, AND MARFA PLATEAU...

.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns have improved this evening as winds continue to
diminish below critical thresholds. It has been dry and windy today
across the area and after a night with fair to poor recovery will
lead to more red flag conditions out west tomorrow where fuels remain
cured. Windy conditions will persist into the weekend but cooler
temperatures should keep minimum afternoon humidities at or above 15
percent. So while Red Flag conditions are not anticipated, the fire
danger threat will still be elevated into the weekend.
