Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico...UPDATED
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
318 PM CDT Thu Mar 23 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT /MIDNIGHT MDT/
FRIDAY FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, STRONG WINDS, AND VERY
HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE DANGER FOR THE GUADALUPE, DAVIS, AND APACHE
MOUNTAINS, SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO PLAINS, VAN HORN AND THE HIGHWAY
54 CORRIDOR, REEVES COUNTY AND THE UPPER TRANS PECOS, AND LOVING,
WINKLER, WARD, PECOS, PRESIDIO, AND BREWSTER COUNTIES...

...A FIRE WEATHER WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FRIDAY FOR ALL AREAS FOR
HIGH FIRE DANGER, MINIMUM HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS AND WIND OVER 20 MPH...

.DISCUSSION...
The potential for significant fires across the warned area is high into
the evening including large destructive fires that will resist control.
It will be very windy farther east, but south winds will advect moisture
into the Permian Basin, keeping relative humidities above 15 percent, and
the probability of initial attack type fires is high. A line of storms
will form along a pacific front/dryline near the Lea/Gaines County
line and move east/southeast in the evening. Critical fire weather is
expected again Friday and a watch has been issued for all areas, with
critical fire weather again on Sunday.
